Another random musing from me...

You indicate that the victim had no defensive wounds to the hands or forearms. Perhaps the first stab wound to the neck/skull severed or severely damaged nerves rendering her unable to posture in a defensive manner, perhaps paralyzing or otherwise incapacitating her physical movements. The slash wound to the front of the neck could have been subsequent to the other wounds, in an attempt to quiet her were she screaming or calling for help... Just a thought...
