The real killer app is email/usenet with Eudora the best for the least implementation.

The best email client is a browser. The second best email client is something more like a QWK reader that can zap into local dialups from 14.4 modems and 'throwaway' PCs given to kids who don't have the wiz-bang GUI and the ISP.

There's a real narrow band of users to which Eudora is the right thing anymore. Still, you're saying *nix doesn't have a 'Eudora' type simple-simon GUI pop mail thing. Actually there are a couple (Pegasus for one - TK Rat's not bad), but the best mail client is CLI. Mutt and Pine kick ass.

In order to run the feature pig Eudora version you need as much machine as you do for Netscrape.

Also, I think the GUI is headed huge into XML/Java. It's still only December, E. You've got a lot more GUI season to go.
