Interest rate projections by Charles Peabody

"In recent days the interest rate environment
has turned noticeably hostile, as reflected
in the 6.1% yield on the two-year Treasury
note. However, even at that yield, the
marketplace is showing a certain level of
complacency with respect to future Fed
monetary policy.....

In fact, once we get past the Y2K fears, I
would not be surprised to see a rather dramatic
rise in rates in the first half of 2000 ? which
could put quite a severe strain on debt service
capabilities. Thus, I continue to forecast
deterioration in credit quality next year."
