Being very careful to differentiate the optical layer stuff at PHY, would Nortel be making a foray into the packet switching world (which is done electrically and will be that way for decades, at least) at Layer 3 (Network and ip) at OC-192c and higher ?? Is this where Avici fits into the Nortel plan ?? I think we have to be careful not to confuse optical re-routes with packet routing/switching as some folks on this thread get confused. That's the good thing about SI--sharing knowledge.
