Peter, i think there has been massive distribution during the whole rally phase from October...the constantly negative tick readings indicate as much. however, today's high volume has more to do with expiration related position squaring i believe. the supply overhang in the market due to delta hedging must be enormous with 33 million call contracts outstanding.
