By EQMX: I visited ACTV at the Western Show today.
I spend all afternoon at the show and did have quite a long conversation with Bill Samuels, met David Reese and some of the others at the booth.
Bill gave an excellent presentation on the HyperTV medium and the new content included in the BOXFUSION and AUSTIN POWERS. I saw the content and it is superior to what TBS did for BOND. He explained that HYPERTV will be commercially deployed as of 12/31/99. Helping with presentations were reps from THEBOX, they are very excited with HYPERTV. I saw several music videos demos and I am convinced the teens will go crazy over the interactive presentation. One particular video, "Rays of Light" featuring Madonna shows all the lirics while the video is playing and it includes factoids about Madonna. At the end of the video it asks if you would like to purchase the CD via Hypertv with just one click. It includes the price right under the YES box.
I also visited the ICTV booth since ACTV just announced an alliance with this company. I was very impressed with ICTV, they are also involved with GAME SHOW which provides interactive games such as Jeopardy and Wheel of Fortune. I saw demos on both. BTW, OPENTV and LBRT have interactive connections to these game shows also. When I asked if ACTV was getting involved in these games, I was told YES.
ACTV reps. explained that the present competition has actually been good by creating a much higher awareness in the field of interactivity and has made sales easier since ACTV products such as HyperTV, which deals in real time, are superior to the other interactive platforms.
Bill Samuels was very careful in reminding that ACTV is in a quiet period and intends to stay that way until the " Follow-on" offering. He did say that the road show was set to start on Jan 17. Bill also went over the various market caps in the related industries, LBRT among others, he explained that ACTV has 4 to 5 times the potential of LBRT market cap. He was careful to add that he really cannot predict stock prices and why stocks behave certain ways in todays market conditions.
Bill told me he had spent the entire morning with Analysts, Brokers and Institutions and said that the press conference was a mix up, ACTV had not asked for one. He didn't know why ACTV had been included on that list.
I also visited TVGUDE and was told that Release 15 will be ready in February and that it will include ACTV software.
Saw the GIC booth, very impressive. The GIC boxes on display all had the ACTV logo right next to them, I was shown a demo of the new 5000 series,it does 3D pictures, they gave me special glasses to see the show.
Visited TBS and saw the BOND display, TBS apparently pulled very high ratings on the BOND series, did not see any references to HYPERTV there.
