From ACTV Advocate--Another report from Western Cable Show: By: ACTV_Advocate Reply To: 12982 by dontdump Friday, 17 Dec 1999 at 12:25 AM EST Post # of 12995  Western Cable Show;
  I spent a couple of hours at the ACTV booth and had an opportunity to speak with both Bill Samuels and David Reese. I don?t believe we discussed anything that would be unacceptable during the quite period, but I would rather not quote either Bill or David in any specific subject matter. I met Art Cohen and even brushed shoulders with Tom Wolzien, and I can tell you that "The Wolzien Process" is alive and well. Tom spent a lot of time in the ACTV booth area, and remember he doesn?t work for ACTV, he only sold us his patent. His primary job continues to be as an analyst. My conversation with Art Cohen was very enjoyable and I found him to not only be very bright, but he is very excited about what the future has in store for ACTV. In fact I have been very impressed with every ACTV employee I have met, and after spending a day walking and talking with literally a hundred people in the ?Convergence? arena, OpenTV and we had the most knowledgeable crews.
  ACTV was demonstrating a great Austin Powers clip on a large wall mounted flat computer screen that included full motion video and some awesome graphics. The demo ran flawlessly and attracted a lot of interest. Of course we were demonstrating Individualized Television and allowing the viewers to enhance their experience for both the sporting event and the commercials. The ?Box? was well represented in our booth and seemed very excited about the up coming launch, and the demonstration that was running looked great. As the full motion video ran, the lyrics were displayed on the screen and gave you the opportunity to buy the CD. The chat function was also displayed and I feel confident that the younger generation will be hanging in the chat room as they ?Click to Buy? related products.
  Don?t forget that eventually HyperTV and Individualized TV will be mutated together in the future, and should be absolutely without peer. In fact as I was talking to Art Cohen he reminded me of one of his recent quote?s ?There is no Pepsi to our Coke?, in other words our advertising business model as no equal and isn?t likely to.
  Perhaps the best news I learned at the show was that Digital ADCO was not going to be a GIC only offering. The old timers will remember that I have always said that advertising will be our biggest revenue producer and I am more convinced of that then ever. We have the patents and the best partners in the industry and I believe we will be rolling Digital ADCO out in every major set-top box world-wide.
  I can?t help but believe that we have a ton of news we could be releasing, but with the quite period in place in complicates and changes the prospectus which was prepared for the ?Follow Up Offering?. I expect that we will see a windfall of news including many new partnerships in the coming weeks/months. I will tell you that everyone including Bill and David were wearing wide smiles, but the again why wouldn?t they be.
  Also don?t forget that the middle-ware companies such as Liberate and OpenTV get only a one-time charge for the OS. I asked Liberate how they expected to generate continued revenue and was told that they felt there would be enough digital boxes being installed worldwide that a one time charge would provide an ample revenue source. I can?t imagine how Wall Street will value ACTV when they find out that our revenue stream in never ending and we will be growing through continued business as well as the digital growth. I truly believe our market cap should be hirer then Liberty?s and think that our Investment Bankers will make it clear to the institutions why. ACTV has five revenue generating businesses that will continue to produce revenue long after Liberate has been installed and moved on.
  I will do brain dumps as the fog clears?. And Croatty2 should be returning soon to give us his spin.
