NOKIA CEO SEES LOOMING BATTLE FOR WIRELESS SUPREMACY

In the next two to three years, a "race will be fought" between U.S. developers who are ahead on the creation of data
communications technology and Europeans who have held the lead in wireless technology said Nokia Chairman and
Chief Executive Jorma Ollila late December 15. As IP-based technologies increasingly converge with mobile
applications, the interesting question is which of "the companies will be able to implement that best," Ollila told a
European Institute-sponsored forum at the Finnish embassy on information society in the wireless world.
