Tim, thanks for posting the article by George Gilder. I saw him give a lecture on SPAN over a year ago but I only caught the tail end. Ever since I have been trying to find information on optical cable amplification. I guess my search abilities are sub par because I have not learned very much until I tapped your link.

To everyone, if you are following Vitesse, Pairgain and others, read this article.
