shoot1st: How's that for a starter?
No offense, but not very good. Me thinks you think to highly of this thread. (By the way, I do monitor L2, ISLD, Time/Sells, Charts (various time intervals) with my own indicators, Various Hot List, Quote Sheets with selected indicator issues and indices, etc! And I use more than one software package and data source. And, I do full stocktalk text searches of ticker symbols I am interested in to see what the latest scuttlebutt is on SI. That is how I fell into this thread as of late. I usually do not monitor stock picking threads.)
The stock picks announced on this thread (especially Kim's) that are good, get help from the traders monitoring this thread with an initial spike. However, good picks will move up announcement or not, because of a broader base of investors buying the stock. In comparison, the poor picks (those with small floats) only get an initial spike up by the initial flurry of buying from those monitoring this thread. However, after that buying dries up (often very quickly) the retrace begins. This thread alone can not sustain a rise.
If I were making recommendations on this thread after I had taken positions and many of those that monitor this thread followed my recommendations by jumping in and buying the same stock, I could make a good living just selling into the initial spike generated. In others words, sell into this thread's buying. This would work best with thinly traded stocks with small floats.
Invest your time before you invest a dime!
