The big ones contract with grape producers. They proclaim the type of grape they will buy, including level of sugar content and time of crush at the start of growing season. It costs the grape producers a bundle to schedule things just right (we're not talking just any old raisin under the sun, after all). So, the good ones go all out to nail the perfect grape. The wine producers often buy from someone who didn't hit it exactly but is willing to under cut the going rate for the great grape. The excellent grape producers then go empty handed. This doesn't always happen but often enough to keep the farmers crying in their...juice. Any way I'm a tea toter so I should back out of this. I just don't know how to do it gracefully.

Check with some valley girls. I'm pretty sure this is happening in your state.
