In fact, overall, the technology Qtera uses requires more (not less) optical components and hence is good for the component suppliers. SSB reported as of 12/10/99 (By Lissa Bogaty): "We believe companies like Qtera should create a huge market for: optical switches high-power source lasers pump lasers for Raman amplifications high-performance modulators passives to compensate for signal degradation 980 pumps *EDFAs JDS Uniphase produces or is developing all of these produces.
