True, and often they are brilliant gearheads with revolutionary ideas but can't get the hang of deal making. I saw a documentary on the birth of the internet (PBS) and they showed how the router came to be. A husband and wife in their 600 sq.ft. apartment with all these huge gizmos. Their company became Cisco Systems. The V.C.s came to the wife one day and said "Either we go or your husband goes, this company is going nowhere with him in charge". I started to feel sorry for the guy till I saw the $200 million home and heard they're still sitting on a couple of million shares!
