***Mq, You forgot the Cat!!*** Oh yes, Craig Farrill's comments and that test was based on the 3G way of doing IP on WWeb. They got 4c per megabit as the cost.

With people seeing Cat's eyes showing $ $ signs, they'll spread their load much more, so the overall cost per megabit will go down as the total number of rats going through the drain in 24 hours is increased dramatically and the urgent rats get the bite put on them.

So, dividing the 24 hour load by the dollars paid, we'll get a much different bite per megabyte. It will be much lower. Maybe 1c per megabit will be the 24 hour average cost by the time they get WWeb up and running. Maybe less than that.

They'll quickly displace wireline at those rates. People will want convenience and the form of WWeb access that they want rather than sit in the same corner of their house all the time. The Wired World is Toast. Fibre to nearby and Bluetooth in a lot of places, but mostly cdma2000 [and clone] will be the way it's done.

At the moment the Cricket Plan, eat all you like, is looking good, but subscribers don't like to get busy signals. So it will have limited application and the Cat's Eye [TM] approach will have to be overlaid for those who can manage their bytes to avoid bites.

Eventually, I can't see how EAT ALL YOU LIKE can remain an option. There isn't enough WWeb spectrum. Is there? Suppose we all watch Weblooms [TM] all day? I heard that supply creates demand.

Craig Farrill said at the Virtual CDG conference that they expect to have variable pricing so maybe that 4c includes such peak and offpeak pricing.
