Concerning Jesus and Anger..
RE>>Both phrases are extremely similar in basic content<<
The scriptures are very careful to make a BIG distinction between the Wrath of Man ( flesh ) and the Righteous anger of the Holy Spirit.
Look:
James 1:20 For the wrath of man worketh not the righteousness of God.
When you use the term "lost his temper" maybe you mean something else but to others "lose" is a bad word... If we "lose" our temper with someone we need to apologize.
If however someone says "I was really angry with him" most people would say "I don't blame you one little bit"
Jesus "knew" that He would do this before He was born. It was a prophecy. He being God knows exactly what He would do and what everyone else would do before they ever did it.
It is all ordained and He being God knows what He has ordained!
Look:
Psalms 69:9 For the zeal of thine house hath eaten me up; and the reproaches of them that reproached thee are fallen upon me.
This is the verse Jesus was "consciously" fulfilling.
John 2:16 And said unto them that sold doves, Take these things hence; make not my Father's house an house of merchandise. 17 And his disciples remembered that it was written, The zeal of thine house hath eaten me up.
It was the Disciples who even saw and knew what scripture He was fulfilling...
When you talk about Jesus "losing His temper" you make it sound like you think He could have done better. At least to me...
It was planned and indeed the principles it teaches happens even to this day. What does the rest of that verse teach?
Look:
Psalm 69:9 For the zeal of thine house hath eaten me up; and the reproaches of them that reproached thee are fallen upon me. 10 When I wept, and chastened my soul with fasting, that was to my reproach. 11 I made sackcloth also my garment; and I became a proverb to them. 12 They that sit in the gate speak against me; and I was the song of the drunkards.
Psalm 69 is the Voice of Jesus in the Old Testament... ( they all are but few can suffer that )
The men whom Jesus rebuked and whipped were disgracing and shaming God the Father... with their bold and wicked exploiting of God's People and their tender consciences! Making money off the holy spirit of repentance that they were given... selling at exploited prices " approved sacrifices " Rome is nothing new.
Jesus was right to whip them and to cast them out of God's Holy House of Prayer.... but did the Church thank Him?
NO rather the reproaches that were directed at God the Father became directed at Jesus no matter what He did.
When Jesus fasted and wept - Did they appreciate His love?
When He said He was the Son of God they said He was proud and blasphemed!
When He put on sackcloth and humbled Himself they called Him mad or possessed of a demon.
Now when He comes in strength with the power and authority of God... he still becomes a song of drunkards.
No one thanked Jesus for disturbing the sinful practice in those temples.. Rather they likely said He was disrespectful and one who defied all "lawful authority".
Those who saw Jesus did not think He had merely lost His temper in the flesh...
Judge for yourself the response:
John 2:18 Then answered the Jews and said unto him, What sign shewest thou unto us, seeing that thou doest these things?
You see they asked Him to PROVE HE HAD THAT KIND OF AUTHORITY
If they merely thought he had lost His temper or His mind they would not have asked this question.
Have you ever been in a church where someone went nuts?
You just humour the guy and drag him out of there....
No they did not lay a hand upon Him for they knew that He was in full control of Himself and indeed was showing forth an authority they knew nothing of.
Matthew 7:29 For he taught them as one having authority, and not as the scribes
God does send very ANGRY MEN of GOD at times...
They are not angry in their flesh and the cause is not their own... remember what Jesus said??
He said MY FATHERS HOUSE not His house... He was not defending His own honor but the Honor of God the Father...
I leave you with this.
1Sa 11:6 And the Spirit of God came upon Saul when he heard those tidings, and his anger was kindled greatly.
This was a very Righteous Anger of the Holy Spirit of God.
Again this is the voice of Jesus in the very same Psalm:
Psalms 69:24 Pour out thine indignation upon them, and let thy wrathful anger take hold of them.
Thy " Wrathful Anger " is referring to God the Father's Anger.
Jesus is both Love and Wrath. Just read Rev 16 OUCH!!!
There was no doubt about the Anger of God in 70 A.D.
We should not doubt it now.
I pray then that God have mercy, love, and forgiveness to us. |
