Bryan, I appreciate your efforts in trying to accommodate all of us that prefer "Classic SI". You could have chosen not to give us a choice. And for that we are all grateful.

This customized "Classic 2" is essentially the NEW SI, with a different header and look. The functions are still totally that of the New SI, from what I can tell. Correct?

I feel it important that you understand the reasons those of us that have been here a while have come to love the original SI over the new version.

-ease of reading is primary [text, titles, links, etc.]

-intuitive interface [yes, familiarity is a factor]

-happy colors [not so clinical]

-ability to quickly scan hundreds of posts in a few minutes
[with or without the aid of third-party software]

-sharing portfolios and watch boards with one another [a unique feature that helped make SI great]

In creating the new SI, many of these benefits were "fixed". That seems to be at the heart of the disappointment many are expressing over the new SI and even of this newer customized version of the Classic SI. Rather than merely giving old SI a face lift, you chose to substitute the face altogether, in building New SI. This "Classic SI Customization Option" seems to be an attempt at covering the new face with makeup, to appear like the old one. . .that we came to know and love.

On my thread for over a year, we have used our 'public portfolios' as a yardstick by which to measure our own trading skills. Each of our portfolios are averaging about 300% per year. So at any given time, a trader can look to these portfolios as a milestone on whether their time spent trading in and out of stocks is well spent or wasted. These portfolios have become an integral part of how business is done on the HOME thread.

Doing away with Classic SI, without providing the public portfolio option within the New SI, would injure our thread and I suspect several others as well. As you know, migrating the portfolios into New SI loses the public viewing option. So the issue here is not merely one of color or design, but of function.

Please understand that turning off Classic SI without incorporating Classic SI features into the New SI, namely the public viewing of portfolios, would destroy an important and unique function of SI. And forgive me for speaking frankly, but I don't understand why it was decided that portfolios should no longer be available for public viewing, nor do I recall your explanation to the community on this. Perhaps you could point me to it.

As for the issue of environment . . .this is strictly an issue of wills. Your will is that everyone use your New fonts, sizes, colors and backgrounds. Our will is that we continue to use the original. . .exactly as it was. . .in text, title size, text color, background color and most importantly function, as there was never anything wrong with it.

I respectfully propose a re-think.

Sincerely,

Rande Is
