Mikey: If that was an elliptical reference to my words, please note that you missed out "the hopeful....analyst".

Your theory that analysts have been critical of COMPAQ in order to depress the share price so that they can buy cheaply accords them enormous power whcih they do not have. On that analysis they have persuaded the sophisticated institutions who hire them to sell about 30% of the total value of COMPAQ's share capital since the high, claim huge losses for taxation and to have stayed out until now.

It seems a lot more sensible to suggest that COMPAQ share price has fallen because its profits fell and turned into losses, temporarily, and its management has not given any reason for analyst to raise radically lowered expectations. Perhaps also because COMPAQ core commercial PC sector operates at a loss, its Consumer PC's sell for a 4-5% profit and it sold its most promising profit centre- Alta Vista.

I can understand why those who were able to buy COMPAQ at $18 or $19 a share (or options at that level) are grateful to Rosen. The question now is when will it move forward from here and how much. Not too many "bargain hunters" materialised on Friday to take advantage of the conspirators who have held the share price down simply by hopeful but critical analysis on the SI thread.
