Thanks Larry, Some of us know HYPE when we see it. That SI and CNBC are a part of the hype shows perhaps that their interest is also self-promoting.
I hope Steve and SI clarify this matter because from print it seems he picked many stocks and then picked "winners" to hype on the air. Losers were no longer picks but replaced. He changed his picks during the year if we are to believe print as this post shows Subject 21874
Did you see OnSale mentioned in his December 16 list? Well in this July post it states "the worst performing stock on the list was ONSALE."
As I read it, he picked eight not TEN stocks in the beginning of the year as the Dec. 16 list states. Two of his ten picks were "Traffic Kings" and "ShopperConnection", on May 1 the list was edited, traded, etc. but SI called it an "update". The 661% performing GeoCites was added as were others from the hot sector "Traffic Kings"
and "ShopperConnection" picks went bye-bye (as did BRCM).

These false numbers for Harmon's year stink IMO. SI and CNBC (and anyone else) who puts his '99 picks on the air are helping to fool investors and the general public IMO.
I also think anyone who bought SCOC yesterday without doing their own DD is a fool and may loose money in 2000, like several of Steve's picks did in '99.
How can he sleep at night (other than on a pile of money) when he listed a 661% return on GeoCities, which was picked from a basket of stocks, from a list? That is plain deception to me.
The idea was to pick and hold TEN stocks. So if you pick a stock that is one of TEN. You don't use a list as a stock and then later EDIT the list by replacing non-performers with a bullets.
I don't think this issue will go away any time soon.
