I did get even. I decided early on I wasn't going to have children, and I wasn't going to get married. Well, I got married, but I let my intentions be known about children before hand. It wasn't negotiable. We have none, and hope we never do. I did all the things you did when you were young, too. I remember one instance when I was around the age of 5. Both my parents and I were in the back yard of our home, and I started to compound the word "God" with the word "damn". I have no idea where I heard the word or why I did it, but I did it 3 times past the verbal version of "don't do that". The fourth time I got a swat. I may not have learned why I shouldn't do it, but I did learn "not" to do it regardless. Some forms of punishment do not work with strong-willed children. If it does, why do we have prisons full of those who were once children themselves, because they got spankings as children? I don't even have a criminal record. Of course I guess there is always time. (My allotted online time is up for this part of the day) Edit: I remember thinking "when I am BIG etc., etc." A Tom Hanks reference?
