The graph that Intel displayed showed RDRAM at 100% of mainstream desktops, not 100% of PCs. Roughly 16M PC units were sold through retail in the last qtr. This 16M can be taken to roughly represent the value portion of the market. About 120M PC units will be sold worldwide this year. Not getting bogged down in seasonality issues, the value market represents about 50% of all PCs sold. Therefore, by 2002 the Intel graphic indicates their hope that RDRAM will have 50% of the overall PC market, 100% of the "mainstream" market - perhaps 60% if you want to be optimistic.

In 2002, roughly 170M PC units will be sold at 18% growth. You can expect that RDRAM will be in about 85M units. Rich
