McKinsey sets up advisory board -India Ventures 2000

Here is something else these guys are doing.

MUMBAI, Dec. 17

MCKINSEY & Co has announced the initial composition of the Advisory Board of India Venture 2000, "a competition open to all professionals, students and existing entrepreneurs who are interested in converting their ideas into businesses".

According to a McKinsey press release, Mr. Kanwal Rekhi, President, TIE; Mr. N.R. Narayana Murthy, Chairman, Infosys Technologies; Mr. K.V. Kamath, MD & CEO, ICICI Ltd; Mr. C.K.Prahlad, Professor University of Michigan Business School, and Mr. Rajat Gupta, Managing Director, McKinsey & Co, were among the first to join the board.

The board will support the competition by providing guidance to the organisers of India Venture 2000, and also act as judges for the final round of business ideas.

The winning ideas, at the end, would be ready for funding and business start-up, the release said. McKinsey would also provide business building support to the winning teams and assist in achieving financial closure.

According to McKinsey, the initial response had been encouraging, with over 150 potential participants already showing interest. (The Hindu)
