It is against the interests of Lucent's customers to allow it to function as a gorilla, they will always want viable second sourcing.

I don't have an opinion about the accuracy of your thinking, but the thought process is one of the most lucid I've seen around here. You're using logic that is a corollary to everything we know about the value chain. Whereas a value chain supports everything the Gorilla does because it is in the value chain's best interest, you are suggesting that there is no significant value chain by virtue of the opinion that it is in their best interest NOT to provide too much support.

Had you not mentioned your thinking about Lucent in that context, I would not have thought of the corollary. I'm sure you just helped me arrive at a fresh way of looking at this stuff. Thanks!
