X, I can really relate to what you say here. I was also hit quite often by my father as a child growing up. And as Penni eluded to, I reached a point at 15 when my strength exceeded that of my fathers and finally said enough-is-enough! He never hit me again.

My brother, a wonderfully bright sensitive person has always had a stuttering problem, I believe it's related to the way we were both punished as a child.

But, taking a belt and welting you across the head for being 5 minutes late, or kicking you with a hard-toed shoe is quite a bit different than an occasional regimented spanking on the bottom.
