I don't dispute any of your points. I just thought it was comical to say that priests urge men to beat their wives.

Things are rapidly changing there. It won't be too long before the old mores are seen as standing in the way of a real opportunity.

I have this fantasy of Ireland becoming a tax haven for dotcom companies. If Washington taxes internet sales, all those e-retailers could move to Ireland, where there is an English speaking workforce, and set up shop there. It would be just like Atlas Shrugged!

Even if that doesn't happen, they are in a good position to offer tremendous tax incentives, and their work force is smart, English speaking, and I don't know what wages are commanded there, but I'll bet it's reasonable.

There is a precedent, they already allow writers to live there tax free.
