ole 49r: Your apology is accepted. Thank you for offering it. There has been a lot of emotion on this board but I hope that we all take it for what it is - the strong opinions of people who care deeply about the extent to which we have trusted technology to run our lives. Hope that you are right about the electrical grid being 'pre-broken' so that cascading is not possible. Sounds like a sensible plan to me. I am confident that responsible phone companies, electric utilities and the national security types have been working hard on this. I doubt that they will ever get much public thanks, but they will have mine. Christine
