They've been doing that for a while now, but have intensified the campaign lately... My understanding is that both membership and amount per basket are growing steadily. I use the service. It is "No Nonsense". I know a few other friends who like it and appreciate it, too.

I believe that Priceline is using the New York Metro area to test and finetune the program. Once the program picks up and becomes successful in the New York Metro area (actually as far up as Hartford CT) Priceline will probably launch a full blown nationwide campaign.
IMHO, Priceline is iin the process of becoming the Walmart of the Web. Amazon is more like a Walmart ON the Web. Priceline has an innovative business model that is poised to take full advantage of the new medium, and much like Walmart swept across the brick and mortar world, so will Priceline.com's effect be in the e-tailing business.

I am kind of waiting for deals to be announced soon with the home delivery services. There will be an explosion of subscription then.
BUT
I am also on the look out for Priceline to show that it can consistently make money and generate good margins from providing its services. That will make or brake the company (especailly with Wall Street). The brand name building is going really well, but (yes) Priceline will eventually have to show that it can earn $$$ alongside with achieving sustained revenue growth.
