I can't imagine what Mahir thinks about his celebrity. I'm sure the media isn't nearly as pervasive in Turkey as it is in the States, so I don't suspect he has any real idea of why he's the center of attention. He's probably just enjoying the ride. Does this guy remind you of those two Pakistani brothers that Lettermen used to feature? (Or were they Indian? Hell, I don't remember.) I don't think Mahir's being ridiculed, actually. A good deal of it all is just our amusement at his fractured English, and the apparent guilessness in his website.
