Interesting article about masculine archetypes. I did have some thoughts while reading it ~ is the engineer really the masculine archetype in our culture? I would have thought a synthesis of sports hero and politician, maybe someone like Bill Bradley, who seems very manly to me. Or a movie star, like John Wayne, or Sean Connery.

Is the tension really between eros and logos? People who are analytical by nature have a hard time understanding people who are emotional, and vice-versa. I am thinking of the Myers-Briggs test, which draws upon Jungian concepts. People who are I have a hard time understanding people who are E, and vice-versa. People who are P have a hard time understanding people who are J, and vice-versa. And so on.

Analytical people think, "if only she/he weren't so childish and emotional!" And emotional people think, "if only he/she would get in touch with his/her emotions!"
