Some how I knew you were going to turn that into a rant so when you cool down give me a simple yes or no or don't know.

This is from the Q's filing. It says "a fully-paid, royalty free license use and to sublicense the use of those patents claimed by InterDigital to be essential to IS-95.

If CDMA2000 requires new licensing or agreements as you said then it must not be IS-95 based? For all we know the Q may not even use IDC's patents anymore. I just thought you might have run across this topic on another thread and someone might have provided comment on it.

Actually in might be a lot of fun if the Q and IDC would go at it again. Frezza could open the archives and be the referee. Maybe even Ira Brodsky would return.

Oh well , have a nice holiday

Jim

Ericsson, Motorola and InterDigital have each advised the TIA that theyhold patent rights in technology embodied in IS-95. Lucent and OKI Electric haveclaimed patent rights in IS-96. In accordance with TIA guidelines, each companyhas confirmed to the TIA that it is willing to grant licenses under its rightson reasonable and nondiscriminatory terms. In connection with the settlement anddismissal of the Company's patent litigation with InterDigital, the Companyreceived, among other rights, a fully-paid, royalty free license use and to sublicense the use of those patents claimed by InterDigital to be essential to IS-95. If the Company and other product manufacturers are requiredto obtain additional licenses and/or pay royalties to one or more patentholders, this could have a material adverse effect on the commercialimplementation of the Company's CDMA technology.
