Cirrus, <Looks like Chuck's sources were right on Cumine needing a re-work to get higher MHz.>
Sorry, Chuck is half-right and half-wrong, as usual. That's what happens when you think you have inside info, much like the yukkie-bellied Register. Truth only needs to be slightly twisted in order to make the transition to a half-truth or even a lie.
By the way, I just had lunch with PB last Friday, and we had a pretty long talk about the state of things. It was a very interesting exchange, because he's a manufacturing guy, while I'm a design and architecture guy. In any case, PB explained to me everything that's going on with Coppermine, among other stuff. As usual, he's still sticking to the same story, that Coppermine production is ramping faster than expected, but demand is also higher than expected.
Unfortunately, we both agreed that Intel marketing may be tempted more and more these days to pull off AMD-style "phantom releases" because of competitive pressures. No longer does Intel have the luxury to build up volumes in the pipelines before opening the floodgates. (You won't normally hear me acknowledge something like this, but I don't think it's much of a secret anymore.)
