X--Saw the CIDER HOUSE RULES this weekend and think it is a movie you would really like. John Irving, the author of the novel, also wrote the screenplay. It is paired down and a couple of important characters were not even in the movie. Irving said to include them would have overcomplicated the film. It would have made it a much darker film then it is. As it stands, it is incredibly sweet in a good way. The lead role of the character, Homer Wells, is beautifully acted by someone I had not heard of before,Tobey Mcguire. And if Charlize Theron had not made your survey of most beautiful men/women in films, the survey isn't valid. The wonder is that she can act as well. Michael Caine is perfect for the role of the complex Dr. Larch, founder of the orphanage. Check it out when it appears in your local store. Happy Holidays, Myron
