Can you imagine yourself living within an enfeebled shell, and still making the forces continue?

It is perfectly detestable notion, yet Stephen Hawking throws a pretty substantial challenge that one can do precisely this. Do we just give up when our bodies cease to do what we wish of them? As we age, don't we gain as well as lose, barring catastrophes such as Alzheimer's?

A tangential thought: When I faced thorny problems, I used to call my mother and literally ask to borrow her years to examine the problems and help me to rank them in importance.
