I believe anything in an IRA account is tax sheltered until it is withdrawn. Unfortunately, that applies to losses as well as gains. Use the IRA for only the sure things! (easier said than done)

I didn't realize there was $3,000 max capital gains loss. I would look into that a bit more (short term vs long term, etc). I'm not a tax man either and I really hate paying them (thats why I bought Procept- hooha). After you add up the fed, state, medicare, ss, sales tax, property, etc, it gets nausiating...

As far as Procept goes, I think the recent article, and the mailing from the company is an attempt to get the stock price up so the company can raise some cash. We may see a pretty good pop as a result (it would be nice). I thought 5/8 was really cheap (probably cause I'm in at 1.9). This is clearly a risky investment with serious upside potential. Let's hope we get lucky.
