Re: Where AMD has failed is in delivering - rather, FAILING to deliver...

Take a look at: store.yahoo.com
AMD is delivering 700 and 750, Intel is limited to 667.

Both Intel and AMD are doing a great job of producing superb processors in the face of an unexpectedly high demand at the high end (I think a lot of forecasters were expecting Y2K fears to cause a greater decrease in demand in Q4 for business PCs). Since AMD has much less of a presence in the business market than Intel, their forecasts were probably better - and so they're doing a better job of meeting those forecasts.

But for you to say that AMD has been failing to deliver, relative to Intel, is silly.

820 delayed months
840 delayed months
Coppermine delayed months
rambus required but too expensive and delayed months
xeon problems
810 shortcomings

While AMD has had
K6-3 didn't scale
Athlon motherboards late

Both companies are engaged in a brutally difficult business that requires them to continually push the bleeding edge of design and production technology - all things considered, both are doing great.

But for the last 6 months, the company that has delivered, over and over again, has been AMD. With a tiny fraction of the resources of Intel, they've been performing spectacularly well - you should allow them a little credit.
