Re: "Elmer, Only three AMD submissions on the sheet. 500,550,600 More misdirection. Has anyone with no bias tested the CPUs under identical conditions( as far as that can be done). Since dell does not sell Athlons yet, then they have not. Comparing others without some attempt at a commonality of the platform as regards peripherals and memory type would be needed."

Compaq posted the first SPEC scores showing the CuMine to be the fastest integer processor in the world. Remember Compaq? They are not exactly wholehearted supporters of Intel. They buy from Intel because they have to. They are AMD's biggest supporter yet they didn't see fit to offer an Athlon workstation. Strange isn't it? Would Compaq falsify these scores when they displace Compaq's own Alpha as world's fastest? I don't think so.

Re: "Comparing an Athlon with rambus against a copper minus with PC-100 would not be a valid test, nor is it valid the other way. "

But Dell's SPECint95 scores for a 440BX system still beat a 750MHz Athlon while the Athlon has a 200MHz CPU memory interface port. The poor BX only has a 100MHz FSB :-( yet still wins :-)!

What does all all this prove? Only that when people accuse Intel of cheating they have to accuse Compaq and Dell as well. And why would AMD's biggest supported cheat to make the competition look better?
