Steve, the fact that I think your source is full of it has nothing to do with either a long position or a emotional connection. Take a look at my post #8152 - I think O'Reilly's departure is a significant blow to Corel, and have very little faith in Cowpland's ability to manage the company. I think the negative opinions about the products are perhaps overstated, but I can't disagree with them fundamentally. Quattro Pro is dog-slow, PhotoPaint is a prepress disaster-in-waiting, lots of flaws to pick up on. There are some really sharp people at Corel, and there are some incredibly screwed up management practices there. During O'Reilly's tenure, the former were increasing, and the latter were decreasing. That has to continue, or Corel is going nowhere. Cowpland's fondness for sycophants does not bode well.
That being said, I think I have very good sources in the company. Not good enough to get sneak peeks at Marlen's dress before the Gala, but good... I am quite confident that Cowpland did not fire O'Reilly. I don't think he is that stupid, though I don't think he realizes fully how negatively he is percieved in capital markets (amazingly..). There may have been an argument, but O'Reilly's resignation caught him badly offguard.
