My husband taught Legal Writing at one point, and some of the papers turned in by law students were impressively bad. They ranged from the severely grammatically challenged to the students who thought that the longer the sentence, the more multi-syllabic the words, and the more obscure the meaning, the better. I don't know which is worse. I suppose in the law field the latter is preferred.
