NW-- At the end of Sept I locked down my organization. Mainframes were locked down in June when remediation was complete with only ongoing verification and testing since then. There have been no new software added only remediated updates. Several PCs were upgraded to CPQ PIIs but they were only to replace those running apps such as HVAC and machinery. A few higher grade were added for employees added to the rolls. All went through a series of tests prior to installation including every one of the thousands in service. A program was run on every PC to verify only company approved software was installed, direction given that no additional was permitted, and the firewall made tight enough that nothing can be downloaded..that process included those running apps and machinery only. There have been no servers added and no changes to the WAN or LAN since certified on mid Oct. I have servers and PCs on the sidelines, tested right out of the box in several locations just in case. I will agree some companies were on the verge of replacing servers over the next several years or were adding to systems and made the decision to do so during Oct/Dec due to Y2K. Most of those were small companies. Most large companies had that type of requirement forcast during '98 at the latest and were complete by mid '99.
Now-- I will be at the office over the NY weekend hopfully just monitoring and receiving email, faxes, and phone messages stating all is well. prayers are appreciated...
