Dear SI Members:
Thanks for all of the input so far. I've just finished reading all 245 posts so far. Sorry I haven't responded sooner. I've been travelling on a family holiday vacation for the last two days. Not an excuse - just a fact.
I've made a number of notes, and I'd like to take this opportunity to respond on a number of items - in no particular order.
1. Browsemaster: I'll cut to the chase... We have every intention of implementing most, if not all, of the BrowseMaster features into the new SI. We've already added View 10 Messages and the Ignore feature, and several others are already on the development list. Unfortunately, we still need to finalize our next generation infrastructure, which involves upgrading our core message databases. Upgrading the message database is the critical action required to enhance SI performance. We can't complete the database upgrade until we turn off the old SI. Which puts us in a bit of a Catch-22 with respect to message-related functionality (i.e. like BrowseMaster). Bottom line: We will replicate the BM functionality in the new SI as quickly as possible, but we need to implement the new database first, which means...there will be a time-period during which BM functionality will not be available. I apologize in advance for the inconvenience. Let me make a suggestion, which I hope will ease the pain, at least a little. If the BM fans can jointly come up with a priority preference list for the BM features, we will implement them in that priority order, i.e. highest priority first. When you all have agreed, please send me one list via PM. Thanks.
2. Portfolios: I read a number of suggestions about portfolios, including the ability to customize your portfolio view with the data points that you want. Already on our list. Also, public portfolios will be restored in the new SI as quickly as possible.
Also, a couple people had questions about exporting their portfolios from the old SI to the new. I think this question has already been answered in this thread, but just in case...
Go to the portfolio section of the old SI and click on the link that says: "Click here to migrate your portfolios to the New SI"
3. Folders (To Me/From Me): The old SI essentially has 3 folders: An InBox, where new messages received reside, until read or replied to; a To Me folder, where messages go after you've read them or replied to them; and a From Me folder, where messages that you've written go. In the new SI, the structure is similar, although the labels are a bit different: InBox - new messages received go here (Public Messages leave the InBox after you read them or remove/file them; Private Messages leave the InBox after you reply to them or remove/file them); OutBox - messages you write are stored here temporarily (up to 100, I think - John Busby, can you confirm that?); Trash - messages that leave the InBox are stored temporarily in the Trash (i.e. just like the old To Me Folder). We keep last 100 messages in trash. The Folders section allows you to create your own Folders and store as many Private or Public messages as you like for as long as you like. Right now, the Folders only allow you to store messages sent or received by you. In the future, we'll let you store any public post you like. (Note: This feature is also dependant upon the upgraded SI message database.)
4. A couple folks mentioned Comparative Charts. The new SI has comparative charts. They are accessible from the Portfolio Tracker section (on the Detailed Portfolio page). Also, on the new SI, you can get multiple quotes by entering multiple ticker symbols into the Quote input box (separated by spaces). On the Multiple Quotes page, there is a link for a Comparative Chart.
5. We'll expand the message box on the reply page.
6. Font Size: Please correct me if I'm wrong (like I needed to ask you to do that <g>), but the font size in the message text is exactly the same size on the old as in the new. The font size of the navigation (i.e. previous/next/repond) is larger on the old than on the new, correct? If this is what you'd like to have changed, then we'll look into it. That doesn't "seem" like a tough request from a technical perspective - of course, the engineers usually shoot me when I say that. :)
That's about all for right now. Please note that if I haven't responded to your particular concern, it only means one of three things...
1. I thought someone else had already answered the question on this thread, and it wasn't worth repeating.
2. We've read your input, but are still looking into your particular request so that we can provide a fair and accurate answer.
3. I have you on my ignore list. (But this only applies to Cheeky Kid, and only on days that end in the letter "y". ;)
Thanks,
Bryan |
