Bluejeans--I do sympathize with your plight.
To my mind Scrooge was a wimpy Pollyanna. Best he could come up with was a mere "Bah Humbug!"
However with the spirit of the season and all you have to get into giving. I suggest you get bag of marbles and give them to the cheery little waifs as they carol, one at a time. Deliver them with a sling shot.
