Interesting----> ISRAELI TECHNOLOGY MISSION VISITS HONG KONG

Dec 20, 1999 (AsiaPulse via COMTEX) -- (Full text of a statement) HONG
KONG, Dec 20 Asia Pulse - Senior executives of technology companies
from Israel met their counterparts in Hong Kong last week for business
matching. The visitors were on a technology mission to Hong Kong
organised by Industry Department.

Prior to their meetings with local companies, the visitors were briefed
on Hong Kong's business environment and on the Cyberport project.
Coming from the information technology, telecommunication and
electronics sectors, the Israeli companies are at the forefront of
development in these technology fields in Israel.

They are meeting local technology companies at some 50 matching
meetings, to explore opportunities for business collaboration. The
mission is a follow-up to the Chief Executive's visit to Israel in
February this year. The visit generated much goodwill and interest to
foster commercial co-operation between companies of the two places.

At the lunch he hosted for the mission, Mr Francis Ho, Director-General
of Industry, said that he was much impressed by the technologies that
he had seen when he was in Israel with the Chief Executive. He believed
that as Hong Kong was moving towards a technology and knowledge based
economy, there would be much scope for forming business alliance
between Israeli and Hong Kong companies.

"I hope the mission would be the start of a lasting process of
commercial co-operation between Israel and Hong Kong and concrete deals
would emerge from the matching meetings."

Also speaking at the lunch was Mr Uri Halfon, the Israeli
Consul-General in Hong Kong. Mr Halfon was optimistic that given
Israel's high-tech industry and its state-of-the-art products, there
would be great opportunities for investment and business cooperation
between Israeli and Hong Kong companies.
