Has The ISTPA Folded, Faded or Just Hit "Pause"?
Just tried to visit istpa.org and got a rather bleak sounding message.
I suppose it's possible that the Web is, as the message indicates, just "currently out of service." But, I wonder. Here's why I wonder:
Unlike the TCPA (that has gotten scads of new members), the ISTPA hasn't seemed to catch on.
Further, it appears that the FTC (according to a 12/16 article at e-businessworld.com) is going to step in with some kind of regulations (or, at least, strong suggestions) about protecting privacy. It was the stated goal of the ISTPA to create standards that would prevent the government from having to intervene.
On the other hand, maybe there's just a glitch regarding the site. (I had reported a, of all things, "privacy glitch" to these guys a while back.) Or, maybe, they're planning on coming up with a better, cooler site.
Oh, well, the action seems to be focused on the TCPA, anyway.
Best Regards,
