do i think their products will fail? no. however, i am much less optimistic than others that s.c can monetize the substantial investment they are making in java, jini, and jimmi. they're nice press release fodder but eventually, the market may require more from the talented mr mcnealy than a press release business plan. so the market is WAY more optimistic than i am here.

two: the server buisness is now and will be forever more a MUCH more competitive and combative place to be in business. will s.c still sell servers? yes. will they be LOWER priced and lower margin? yes. is the stock market prepared for THAT? no.

i have always said the promotioanl management of s.c has delievered when it comes to its core business and is excellent on the nuts and bolts of operations. but this promotion they do will eventually catch up to them and java, jini, and jimmi will never meet the expectations they have established.

bottome line: the market is pricing in a huge j,j,and j future, and a continutaiton of "easy sledding" in servers. I don't see either.

oh, you'll see a lot of posts in response to this one btw, from the bretheren, that will amount to nothing more than PERSONAL ATTACKS on your's truly. I will be surprised if ANY address the business issues I bring up.

Oh...and welcome to the loony bin. <G>
