Although I often find you interesting, I have no mission to "understand" you. I don't know what sort of "personal baggage" you suspect -- no doubt my positions and opinions are products of a lifetime of thought and experience (as are yours and everyone else's).

Where we may differ is PERHAPS you would like to boil "life" down to "rational", "unemotional" and "non-judgmental."

I believe life is a lot messier than that. Maybe if we could assign all sociological factors a numerical value we could load them into a big, unemotional computer and avoid personally coping with a lot of painful choices.

Sounds sort of robotic. And impossible. And, is one of the reasons I am wary of the findings of much sociological "research".

Doesn't seem to promise much in the way of good movies (which you seem to enjoy), painting, music, dance, love or even good sex.

If people were completely rational, unemotional and non-judgmental, no one would ever reply to a single post here. Not even a "LOL"
