I just got an email from a small data vendor indicating
that in his opinion there will be a total blackout
starting January until who knows when. Here are
a few excerpts:

###
describing his situation regarding getting data
>BAD NEWS
>====================================
It is now my opinion that It is EXTREMELY unlikely
that my data suppliers will be able to provide data
starting on 1/3/2000. I hope that I am wrong,
but evidence is mounting that the Y2K crises is REAL
and not to be under estimated.

At the end of the message he gives some options.
here's one of them

You can Wait and See
===========================================
You may request a refund of your membership dues
prorated when it becomes clear that Y2K is as bad
as I think it will be, to the date of your termination
notice.
At that time, you can try and find someone left alive who
can still supply data.

This vendors operation is small. Surely Qcharts, BMI
and Yahoo will work, right?
