Biloxi first to open Nevada Bob's Golf store
Biloxi revitalization and redevelopment program welcomes world's largest retail golf chain
CALGARY, Dec. 20 /CNW/ - Biloxi, Mississippi is home to the first Nevada Bob's Golf 'super pro-shop' franchise built in the U.S. since the company rolled out an aggressive plan to become the dominant force in golf retailing around the world and on the Internet. ''The reception in Biloxi is clear evidence that Nevada Bob's is executing its strategic plan effectively,'' said Martin Bunting, Chief Operating Officer of Nevada Bob's Golf Inc., (TSE: ''NBC''). ''We are aggressively increasing system-wide revenues while at the same time capitalizing on merger synergies. Renovation of existing outlets and building new super pro-shop stores like the franchise in Biloxi facilitates Nevada Bob's renewed focus on the customer's in-store experience as well as our commitment to and support of our franchise operators.'' The 5,000 square foot Nevada Bob's super pro-shop is a unique combination of the service and quality of a pro-shop with the value of a super center, operating with the discriminating golf consumer in mind. The store provides a complete golf experience for customers with the latest in diagnostic technology to help improve their games. Amenities include an oversized putting green, hitting cages with a full swing golf analyzer, and a lie/loft machine all designed to assist staff in professionally analyzing customers' individual equipment needs. Nevada Bob's Golf stores now also offer expanded selections of brand name clothing, shoes and equipment for women and juniors - the fastest growing groups of golfers. Biloxi Mayor A.J. Holloway, Jr. and members of the Biloxi Chamber of Commerce attended the store's grand opening to officially welcome the world's largest retail golf chain as a sign that Biloxi's ocean-front redevelopment and rejuvenation program is working, and a contributing factor to Biloxi becoming one of America's fastest growing cities. ''With the growing number of quality golf courses on the Mississippi Gulf Coast, it is a natural to have a company the caliber of Nevada Bob's in our community,'' said Holloway. ''The Mississippi Gulf Coast is now ranked second to Nevada as the largest gaming destination in the USA. With 18 golf courses in a 30-mile radius and zero nationally known golf specialty shops, the Mayor, along with all local government, did everything in their power to make our transition in Biloxi as easy as possible,'' said Curt Busching of the Nevada Bob's Biloxi franchise. ''Our Biloxi store is 26% ahead of first year numbers for our Jackson, Mississippi store, which set the first year sales record for the Nevada Bob's franchise system.'' Many franchise owners across the U.S. and Canada are looking at converting to the new Nevada Bob's super pro-shop concept for its customer appeal and commitment to customer service. ''Everyone loves the store. We're meeting their equipment and merchandise expectations and providing the knowledge and support customers want and need in order to make informed purchases,'' says Buster Mooneyham, Managing Partner of the Nevada Bob's Biloxi franchise. ''There are people in here hitting balls all day long. That's what we love to see. Nevada Bob's is providing the concept and support we need to be successful.'' Nevada Bob's Golf Inc. also re-opened a renovated store in Anaheim, CA in December. Nevada Bob's Golf Inc. is the largest retail chain of golf specialty stores in the world with 281 stores, of which 195 are franchise locations. The majority of stores are located in the United States and Canada. An executive team purchased the dissolved Nevada Bob's company in 1998 to form the new Nevada Bob's Golf Inc.
