What is your reasoning for setting the bios to search for any bootable drive? It will always boot from the first bootable drive it finds. If you set the new drive as first it will always boot from the new drive.

Well, except if you change the boot sequence some way. Either in the bios or with your alt trick which may be an option that does the same thing.

Does your new drive show up as the D drive when you boot the old drive?
