Non-marginable != short covering.

It's been like that @Schwab for a while, at least 6 months. It simply protects the broker, in this case, Schwab, from being liable for the losses generated by CMGI shareholders.

But since CMGI shares are still in margin account, they can be used for the purpose of shorting, confer to the margin account agreement you signed with your broker. So you can still short on CMGI with Schwab.
