Frank,

Your examples of these specialized networks are good ones. I prefer to call them "specialized" because "closed" implies exclusion for purposes other than technical ones. My question to you about wether ATHM's ability to control the QOS better than others is kind of beating around the bush. Here's another cut at it.

Do you think that a network that is built with all the bells and whistles in place will give the owner of that network a sustainable competitive advantage over its' rivals? I know you are going to cite other networks going up here and there but I mean for broadband to the home on the scale that ATHM has the opportunity to reach. (Screwed up sentence but you get the point)

I suspect that part of the answer to this question is "How much will broadband content evolve?". If broadband content delivery ends up requiring, at a minimum, a high degree of QOS than I believe that ATHM will have a hard to match service. If not than the network will just be a neat network that scales well.

Is it a prerequisite or a luxury?
