My business is almost 90% in Italy...........Cisco potentially has no idea what it is getting itself into.

Italy is a strange country and the integration will be one hell of a challenge. The same method of throwing paper money at the staff does not work in Europe like in North America and the Unions are ENTRENCHED by the law -- not just by the strength of the union mgmt.

This is certainly a strange one and may indicate the need for Cisco to do ANY deal that involves Optical Networking companies.

No one has convinced me that Pirelli -- a two bit European player is worth the 2 billion. More importantly, the integration issue will potentially detract Cisco from doing what it really needs to do to compete in the PTT/Carrier market.

I guess we will have to wait for Cisco to make a PR release to find out WHY they bought Pirelli. Certainly can't be for the revenue stream of $200 million!

Perhaps they value the Telco/PTT relationship that Pirelli has in the European market as I have been saying all along? But Pirelli? Hmmmmm.........seems to me a flyer that Cisco is throwing.
